3. Professional Scope of Practice

Therapy sessions are not a substitute for medical diagnosis, medication, or psychiatric intervention. Where appropriate, clients may be signposted to GPs, mental health teams, or specialists.

Online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially in cases of:
-
Active risk to self or others

Severe psychiatric conditions (e.g. psychosis)
-
Lack of privacy or secure environment for sessions
If you are unsure whether therapy is appropriate, please contact SPIRE Therapy directly for guidance or speak with a healthcare professional.

Disclosure of abuse (especially involving children or vulnerable adults)
-
Legal requirements (e.g. court orders or terrorism-related disclosures)
In such cases, confidentiality may need to be broken, but this will be discussed with you wherever possible.
